Justine Williams
About counselling and psychotherapy

When life gets on top of us, it can be helpful to talk things through with an objective third party who has no prior involvement in our lives.

I'm Justine Williams and through respectful listening I offer a warm, non-judgemental and safe space for therapy, allowing exploration of any past or current issues in a manner and pace that feels comfortable to you.

Counselling is not about giving advice or fixing problems, rather client and counsellor working together to tap into a client's existing inner resources to build up the personal strength and empowerment needed to aid progression.

How I like to Help
How I like to help

I prefer to take an integrative approach to therapy; this involves incorporating elements of psychodynamic, solution-focused and person-centred therapies, as well as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), to tailor sessions to the individual needs of each client.

Therapy is a collaborative process - I will always respect you as an individual and work with you to ensure you get the most out of your counselling sessions.

Therapy isn't just about counsellor technique - finding the right therapist for your needs is very important.  As such, I will always offer a 20-minute 'getting to know you' session first to give you the opportunity to decide whether I am the right counsellor for you.

I can offer weekly daytime or early evening sessions and am based at my home in Leatherhead.

My Training
My training

Since 2012 I have worked with charities such as Heads Together and the Fountain Centre and have experienced counselling all ages from 13 upwards. I've encountered issues surrounding depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, self-harm and suicide ideation, stress, social anxiety, relationship problems, bereavement and those affected by serious or terminal illness.

I hold a BACP endorsed post-graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of East London and an Extra Mural Certificate in Counselling and Counselling Skills from Birkbeck College, London.

My training as a counsellor is on-going and I therefore continue to attend appropriate seminars and CPD courses.
